The girl who cried Wolf

July 23, 2012
Today, we will not be taking a look at the past videos that I made. I filmed a brand new video today. continuing on with my "animal" inspired makeup looks. but the first and only installment of that series was filmed almost exactly a year ago.
I took the same girl who was my canvas, the lovely Kendall Reasons, and turned her into a wolf. A grey and white wolf to be exact. I think a wolf's face is so striking. I wanted to keep the look as simple as possible without making it look "cartoony". I was painting a wolf on a bunch of kids for theatre camp back at my high school last week. I loved what I came up with and wanted to recreate it but something that did not look like face paint. I wanted it a little more realistic.
I used theatre grade makeup. I did a lot of contouring of the face and A LOT of blending of the colors to fade well together. I elongated the eye shape and painted her top lip white and the bottom lip black making the top lip stick out more, which gave the illusion of a snout.

Here is the completed Wolf face

Now after I was finished with the makeup, I had an idea to get a little more creative.
What do wolves do? They are hunters. They catch prey. So I decided to make this pretty little wolf into a hungry little wolf. >:) I put a little black and red on the side of her mouth and all over her fingers to make it look like she had just enjoyed dinner. nom nom nom.

Here is she-wolf enjoying dinner.

Kendall was such a great sport for letting me get her all bloody!
Of course the "blood" on her hand isnt my greatest work because I was in a rush. But I think the overall look came out great! this look doesnt take up the entire face and isn't all that time consuming!
It was fun to work with Kendall again. Hope it happens again soon!

Here is my take on the animal wolf
Enjoy! :)

Baby I was Born This Way

March 8, 2011
"Just <3 yourself and you're set"
A day after my first video I was on a roll. I suppose the rush of finally starting a new channel got to me and I just wanted to make more and more videos! Though that is still what I want to do now, I try to keep it to one video per week. (Though even that plan is failing now.. grrr)

If you watch my videos, you'll notice that I usually start each one with the Phrase "Hey guys, it's Logan again". This video and the first one are the only videos that I have on my makeup playlist that do not start off that way. Now, because this was only my second video, I didnt realize that I would have a "catch phrase" but I suppose I do now. In the first video I couldn't say "It's Logan again" because... it was my first video! Hence... I couldn't have said again! In this video.. I just yell... "GOOD MORNING PEOPLE OF THE WORLD!" haha I don't know what I was thinking.

I've been a fan of Lady Gaga. I mean what's not to like? she's creative, different, a costume genius. Her song Born This Way is just inspiring. Not to mention the makeup she wore in the music video was just as sweeeet. So of course I had to recreate it. There were already plenty of videos on YouTube with the tutorial on it but I didn't really care. It was a simple look and I just liked it so much that I filmed it anyway.

Here are pictures of her makeup

The eyeliner is so stunning and so simple. That's what drew me in to this look.
Of course I only did the eye makeup. (much like the previous Katy Perry video) I did not do the raised cheekbones or shoulder spikes. A year ago I didn't know too much about liquid latex or special effects, so I stuck to basic eye makeup. Obviously I'm still not well learned on special effects but I'm trying!

Here is my version of Lady Gaga's Born This Way makeup
"I'm beautiful in my way, cause God makes no mistakes"

Still a little shaky and awkward. The editing in my videos won't get good till about 2012 :p

The Look that Started it all - Katy Perry

March 7, 2011.
This was well over a year ago, and I had been contemplating for years to start my very own YouTube channel. I had always doubted myself, thinking that my content was never going to get any views or that I was not entertaining enough. But during the beginning of my spring semester of my Freshman year at College I decided that I would go for it. You never know till you try right? When I came home for spring break I decided to film my first tutorial. But the problem was that I didn't have a decent camera to film. I told my dad about this and he took me to Best Buy the very next day and bought me an expensive, wonderful, HD, webcam. I was shocked he purchased it for me but I also didn't complain :) At home on the day I got the camera I set off to film my very first video.
It was so exciting yet overwhelming. I had no idea what makeup look to create. I went to Google and searched for some makeup looks and still I was uninspired. I decided to take a break and went to YouTube to listen to some music. Now I will have you know that Hot N' Cold by Katy Perry is my life song. It honestly was written for me (not really). I love that song. IT'S SO CATCHY! So obviously I listened to it. And as I was watching the music video I saw the makeup she was wearing and thought "Ooo, that's really pretty!" Then. it hit me. That was the look that I would do.

This is the look about 2/3 into the video right after she sings the bridge

It's so bright and green and fun! Yep. It was definitely a winner! But I didn't want to do a look that was exactly like this. I wanted to have my own twist on it.
Instead of just a green eye shadow and black eyeliner that Katy has on, I used a bright Aqua liner in addition to the green eye shadow. It added more color and dimension to the look.

Here is my version of the look.
I loved the colors together! I think it turned out great.

Also, the other reason I wanted to film this look was because I had recently purchased two eyeliners by Jemma Kidd during a shopping trip at Target. They were bright liquid liners in the colors Aqua and Lime green. Video was hitting two birds in one stone because it was a review of the products as well as a tutorial.

It's been more than a year and when I look back on this video I can see that I was a bit awkward. I talked really slow. You can definitely tell that I was new to filming. I also did NOT know how to edit videos though I suppose I did pretty well, considering that the entire video was about 45 minutes long before I edited it down to the 10 minutes it is now. I see how far that I've come from my first video and I'm pleased with the work I do and the progress that I am making.

I honestly don't know why I was talking like the way I did. I definitely made my voice pitch higher. I always thought I had a pretty low voice for a girl, but now looking back I just sound like a kid! haha

***This video is just a tutorial on how to do the eyes and the eyes only. I did not include a foundation routine, bronzer, blush, or a lip color.

So without further ado, here is my debut video on my YouTube channel.
Enjoy! :)
